With its geographic location at the mouth of the Gulf of Mexico, Cuba, also known as “The Key of the Gulf,” enjoys a rich culture from the Spanish Conquistadors, Africans slaves, and natives who settled on the island. This unique cultural blend comes alive in its cuisine.
The Spanish brought cattle, rice, lemons and oranges. The Africans brought hearty staples of yucca and corn. Over time “criolla or Creole cooking emerged. Today, Cuban food is a blend of spices, vegetables, and rices enhanced with locally grown Caribbean fruits and chilies.
Casa Don Rolando features this unique melting pot of flavors in traditional Cuban dishes prepared by Executive Chef Rolando Gonzalez, former Executive Chef for Jennifer Lopez’ restaurant, Madre.
At Casa Don Rolando, Chef Rolando prepares a menu overflowing with authentic Cuban dishes from his childhood in Cuba, including such Cuban favorites as arroz con pollo, rice with black beans, and Cuban flan. Diners can savor perfectly seasoned, mouth-watering dishes of tender meats, vegetables, and spices.
Our 62-seat restaurant, with its covered patio and full bar, is the perfect backdrop to an outstanding Cuban dining experience.
Our staff welcomes each guest with fragrant aromas from our kitchen and a sense of ease in our dining room from a by-gone era. Our great thanks go to our Cuban designer, Daisy Vazquez, who expertly combined comfortable rustic furniture with vintage décor reminiscent of the people, music, and culture of Cuban life in the 1950s. The result is a warm and inviting environment that embraces families around the dining table and allows couples to enjoy an intimate meal. |
